Sloppy Patriots roughed up by Lions in Detroit

Tom Brady

The Patriots (1-2) find themselves under .500 after their 26-10 loss to Detroit (1-2) Sunday night as their offense looked broken and their defense allowed Matthew Stafford and Kerryon Johnson to have a field day.

Tom Brady finished with an ugly 133 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception. He ended the day with a 65.0 passer rating. Sony Michel led the Pats in rushing with 50 yards on 14 carries.

The Patriots wide receivers were again a no-show against the Lions as Chris Hogan “led the way” with three catches for 31 yards. Rob Gronkowski faced double and triple teams all night and was targeted just five times by Brady. He finished with a team-high 51 yards receiving but never found any sort of rhythm.

The Patriots defense was missing key pieces, including Trey Flowers, but did not look good for the second straight game. Stafford finished with a 101.8 passer rating, hitting on 27-of-36 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Kerryon Johnson ended the night with 101 yards.

The Patriots now turn their attention to the Dolphins, who will enter Gillette Stadium next week with a 3-0 record.
