Hurricanes center Eric Staal and Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom have been voted captains for the NHL’s unusual 2011 All-Star festivities.
Staal and Lidstrom were elected by the 42 players who will attend All-Star weekend in Raleigh, N.C., starting Jan. 28.
They’ll pick the squads for the game — Team Staal and Team Lidstrom, respectively — in a playground-style “fantasy draft” next Friday.
