Is it a shoe or is it a sock? Whatever the boot is, it looks cool. Introducing the Nike Mercurial Superfly, which resembles a pair of soccer cleats with socks attached to them. The shoe’s Nike Flyknit technology allows for large flexibility and protection in targeted areas. The American brand says the distinctive ankle support allows for extra ventilation and provides a lighter feel. Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo will be wearing the high-tech kicks in Brazil.

Magista also goes for the sock sensation with this garishly bright yellow boot. Providing both elasticity and support, the Magista has the “feel” of approval, according to Nike: “Players told us they have never felt anything like this.”

Spain’s Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, Brazil’s Thiago Silva and Germany’s Mario Götze will play in these shoes.
