The Hub Crawl 2/16: Celtics fall, Bruins win on road

Just when you think the Celtics (15-13) are for real again, they wind up offering a dreadful performance like Wednesday night’s 98-88 home loss to 9-22 Detroit.

Greg Monroe once again dominated the Celts on the interior, much like he did during the C’s home opener, as he rattled off a line of 22 points and nine boards.

Rajon Rondo had a career-high 35 points in the loss.

Ben Gordon hit three 3-pointers for Detroit to open the fourth quarter.

Bruins: The B’s nearly coughed up a victory but took the victory in a shootout win over the Canadiens in Montreal Wednesday night.

Tyler Seguin’s goal in the shootout and Tim Thomas’ three saves allowed Boston to grab the victory.

Andrew Ference, Benoit Pouliot and Patrice Bergeron each scored for the Bruins, who improved to 35-18-2 on the year.
