The Hub Crawl 2/24: Marchand rips Buffalo, Caserio dishes on Welker

During an interview on WEEI radio Thursday, hosts Mike Mutnansky and Kirk Minihane asked Bruins forward Brad Marchand about the team’s upcoming trip to Buffalo. Marchand’s response predictably drew the ire of upstate New York.

WEEI: “You go to Buffalo now. Do you like Buffalo as a road trip spot? Buffalo’s kind of a boring town, I’d think.”

Marchand: “Yeah, Buffalo would be the worst place in the NHL, so I’m not too excited to go there, but I’ll be pretty excited to leave.”

WEEI: Did you say Buffalo is the worst place in the NHL? Did I hear that correctly?

Marchand: “Yeah, it’s one of them. It’s up there.”

The Bruins face the Sabres Friday night (7:30 p.m., NESN).

Patriots: Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio met with the media at the Indianapolis combine and had this to say regarding the future of Wes Welker:

“We’re going through the process. We’ve had conversations with our free agents at different points, whether it was in the fall. We’ll continue that dialogue,” Caserio told ESPN. “We have until March 13 until free agency begins. So we’ll do our due diligence, we’ll go through the process and see where we end up.”
