The Pats are 12-2 for a reason ... or 5

There’s a lot of reasons why the Patriots are ruling the AFC East at 12-2.

There’s a lot of reasons why the Patriots are ruling the AFC East at 12-2.

There isn’t enough space in Metro Boston to list them all, but here’s a pretty good start:

Tom Bundchen ... er, Brady

Where do we even start? Brady has already thrown for 3,561 yards and 31 touchdowns — the second 30-plus TD season of his career. He’s thrown at least one TD in each of the 14 games this season, and set an NFL record on Sunday by throwing at least two touchdowns and no interceptions in his seventh straight game.

He’s 17 safe pass attempts away from breaking Bernie Kosar's record of 308 consecutive attempts without a pick. (That’s one streak Brett Favre never worried about.) The most impressive part about Brady’s season? He’s doing it while wearing Uggs.

No Give and take

It’s been six games since the Patriots last turned the ball over, an NFL record (the old mark was four). Their plus-20 turnover differential is tops in the league, and they’re 11-0 when their takeaways outnumber giveaways. The current record for best turnover differential is plus-17, set back in 2003.

BenJarvus Green-Touchdown

Lost in Brady’s MVP season is the production from BenJarvus Green-Ellis. “The Law Firm” has 824 rushing yards and 12 TDs on the season — the third highest rushing TD total in team history. Three more TDs will break Curtis Martin’s record of 14 — done in 1995 and ’96.

Dynamic rookie duo

The Pats’ rookie TEs were hyped plenty coming into the season. They’ve lived up to it ... and then some. Rob Gronkowski (seven) and Aaron Hernandez (six) are the first pair of rookie TE teammates in NFL history to record five or more scores in the same season.

Home sweet home

With the win against Green Bay, the Pats have defeated every team in the NFL at Gillette Stadium.

They’re 66-13 at Foxborough’s Razor since it opened in 2002.

Meanwhile, Brady extended his regular-season home winning streak to 27 games. He’s now 33-4 when it’s 40 degrees or colder at kickoff.
