Time to erase fourth-and-2

The Patriots sound like they’re sick of talking about it.

Just about everybody’s sick of hearing about it.

Thankfully, there’s no better way to forget last Sunday’s fouth-down disaster than smacking around a team from New York.

And from the looks of it, the Jets are just that team.

The current squad bears little resemblance to the one that scored a 16-9 win over New England on Sept. 20. New York has lost five of its last six (the lone win was over the Raiders), and the Jets’ passing offense and rushing defense have been struggling lately.

OK, so Pats coach Bill Belichick doesn’t seem to think it’s a sure thing.

“We know how determined and competitive they are,” he told reporters this week. “I’m sure they’ll be at their best for this game, just like they were the last time they played us. We are going to do everything we can to be at our best and be competitive with them. That’s where I think we are. That’s where I think they are too.”

The Pats are double-digit favorites.
