Tom Crean will likely replace Rick Pitino as head coach of the Louisville basketball program as Pitino was fired Wednesday amid a federal investigation into fraud and corruption in college basketball recruiting. According to ESPN, federal prosecutors “said at least three top high school recruits were promised payments of as much as $150,000, using money supplied to Adidas, to attend two universities sponsored by the athletic shoe company.”
According to ESPN’s Lisa Kerney, “Tom Crean could emerge as interim head coach candidate.”
Crean’s name was all over social media Wednesday amid speculation that Pitino would be fired at Louisville.
Crean was head coach at Indiana from 2008-17 and before that led Marquette to the Final Four in 2003.
My Alma Mater’s coach is still available. Is Indiana’s Tom Crean a thought for Louisville’s new coach?
