TV picks, Fall Preview edition: Your guide to Tuesdays

We're breaking down the TV season day-by-day all this week. Here are the new shows airing on Tuesdays.

Dennis Quaid plays reluctant lawman Ralph Lamb, based on the real-life sheriff who tried to clean up a mob-run Las Vegas Strip in the 1960s. Standing in Quaid's way is Michael Chiklis, who plays the well-dressed archetypal gangster with roguish delight — a perfect foil to the gruff, cowboy hat-wearing rancher Lamb.

Premieres Sept. 25, 10 p.m., CBS

"Emily Owens, M.D."

Mamie Gummer scrubs in as a doctor whose worst nightmare comes true — life, and particularly the social hierarchy at her Denver hospital — is just like high school.

Premieres Oct. 16, 9 p.m., The CW
