“Sons of Anarchy”

DRAMA. The rise of Jax to president of
SAMCRO over stepdad Clay has been brutally personal and devastatingly
bloody. Even more so is the fallout after club member Tig murdered the
daughter of gangster Damon Pope’s daughter (Pope is played by new guest
star and “Lost” alum Harold Perrineau). Good luck sleeping soundly after
tonight’s premiere.

“The New Normal”

COMEDY. A gay couple (Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha) enlists a new-to-L.A. single mom (Georgia King) who is trying to better the life of her daughter while dealing with her bigoted but loving grandmother (Ellen Barkin).

Series premiere, 9:30 p.m., NBC

“Go On”

COMEDY. The Matthew Perry-led grief-therapy comedy receives its official premiere post-Olympics, with the former Friend’s sportscaster, Ryan, serving as wingman for his new group buddy Steven (John Cho).

‘Parenthood’

DRAMA. The Bravermans pick up five months after last season’s finale, with the growing clan gathering for a family portrait before the big change of Haddie heading to college.
