“Total Blackout”

GAME SHOW. “Dancing with the Stars” competitor Jaleel White attempts to continue his comeback via reality TV by hosting this psych-out game show, which leads contestants into complete darkness to face their fears — like a cage full of rats or snakes. The joke’s on them when the creepy crawly they’re expecting to encounter actually turns out to be a feather duster. The doctor’s bills for a heart attack are also on them.

Series premiere, 10 p.m., Syfy

“Locked Up Abroad”

REALITY. The series that always makes a good case for choosing to nix that vacation abroad and save your money instead opens Season 6 with a profile of Erik Aude, an actor who appeared in “Dude, Where’s My Car?”, then made the bad decision of taking a real-life role as a drug mule and wound up in a Pakistani prison. The now-freed Aude, perhaps angling for a second shot at Hollywood, stars in his own reenactment tonight.

Season premiere, 10 p.m., National Geographic

“Auction Kings”

REALITY. There are so many “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” auction series these days, we can’t keep them straight. This one, apparently, is premiering Season 3 tonight.

Season premiere, 10 p.m., Discovery Channel

“Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23”

COMEDY. James Van Der Beek lands a role in a body-swap movie, opposite “Mad Men” star Kiernan Shipka. Unfortunately, this is tonight’s “Apartment 23” plotline, not a movie that is actually happening.

9:31 p.m., ABC
