“American Idol”

REALITY. If the tabloids — and even the ads from Fox — are any indication, Season 12 is all about new judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj (and you, Keith Urban — what a good sport). We’re guessing there will be a few contestants seen on the singing competition tonight, too.

Season premiere, 8 p.m., Fox

“Kroll Show”

COMEDY. “The League” star Nick Kroll fleshes out characters from his Comedy Central stand-up special “Thank You Very Cool,” including the wannabe music producer Bobby Bottleservice, and introduces even more, like the annoying PubLIZity team of Liz and Liz, for this sketch series.

Series premiere, 10:30 p.m., Comedy Central

“Top Chef: Seattle”

REALITY. It’s an all-out food fight when the men vs. women Restaurant Wars challenge concludes tonight.

10 p.m., Bravo

“Modern Family”

COMEDY. We’re guessing Manny’s not going to find the “extra special surprise party” Jay and Gloria decide to throw him in light of the baby’s impending arrival quite as special as his mom and stepdad view it.

9 p.m., ABC

“Nashville”

DRAMA. Rayna and Juliette prepare for their first shared-bill concert in San Diego. Keep the backstabbing offstage, ladies.

10 p.m., ABC
