TV Watch List: Weekend, Jan. 6-8

‘Absolutely Fabulous’

COMEDY. Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) are just as fab as they were 20 years ago when this over-the-top Britcom premiered. The first of three specials brings the overindulging duo up to date with references to Twitter and the royal wedding — and more booze than you even remembered.

Sunday, 10 p.m., BBC America and Logo

‘Mob Wives

REALITY. There’s something about a “make-up talk” that Drita and Karen don’t understand. Namely, it’s the making up part they seem to have trouble with when their conversation takes a vicious turn.

Sunday, 8 p.m., VH1

‘The Firm’

DRAMA. NBC delivers a television sequel to the John Grisham novel and 1993 film starring Tom Cruise. Josh Lucas takes over the role of idealistic lawyer Mitch McDeere, who exits witness protection after 10 years in hiding for his role as a whistleblower. Mitch attempts to open his own firm and gives his family some sense of normalcy, but it turns out mobsters have pretty good memories and aren’t very forgiving.

Series premiere, Sunday, 9 p.m., NBC

‘Downton Abbey’

DRAMA. The upstairs/downstairs residents of this English manor became surprise stars last year. As Season 2 kicks off, the men are in the thick of World War I, only serving to amp up the romantic melodrama that has stolen the hearts of millions.

Season premiere, 9 p.m., PBS
