TV Watch List: Weekend, Sept. 16-18

‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’

ANIMATED. If you still need proof that “Clone Wars” isn’t simply a cartoon for kids, consider the very realistic premise (well, minus the cool space stuff) of Friday’s one-hour Season 4 premiere: Terrorists ignite civil war on Mon Calamari, where the Republic struggles to keep peace. But then Jedis show off their moves with lightsabers underwater, and no matter what your age, the reaction is still “cool.”

Season premiere, Friday, 8 p.m., Cartoon Network

‘Planet Rock: The Story of Hip-Hop and the Crack Generation’

FILM. This VH1 Rock Doc, narrated by executive producer Ice-T, explores the impact the crack cocaine plague on American cities in the 1980s had on popular culture and the hip-hop community in particular.

Premiere, Sunday, 10 p.m., VH1

‘The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards’

SPECIAL. TV honors its best and brightest (or at least its prettiest in fancy ballgowns and tuxedos). Find out what not to expect from the Jane Lynch-hosted gala in our preview at metro-us.go-vip.net/tv.

Sunday, 8 p.m., Fox
