INDIANAPOLIS — Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora found out you don’t mess with the media.
Umenyiora missed yesterday’s media session and was fined $20,000 for his transgression.
For his part, Umenyiora apologized immediately. He said it wasn’t intentional and a mere misunderstanding.

“I misunderstood the schedule,” Umenyiora said. “It won’t happen again, and I will be at tomorrow’s media session and available after the game. I apologize for any inconvenience my absence this morning may have caused.”
For comparison’s sake, Giants safety Kenny Phillips was fined just $7,500 for a helmet-to-helmt hit in last week’s NFC?Championship game against the 49ers.
