Union fans ‘amped up’ for home finale

All season, the fans at PPL Park in Chester have been standing and cheering for the Union. Expect an even crazier atmosphere for the home finale on Saturday against the New York Red Bulls.

The Union will finish their inaugural MLS season at Columbus on Oct. 24.

“I’m excited for this match,” said forward Danny Mwanga, a candidate for MLS Rookie of the Year. “This is the kind of match you want to play in.”

These fans booed David Beckham when the L.A. Galaxy came to town last Thursday in what wound up being a 1-0 defeat. Beckham’s perfect corner kick found Edson Buddle for a clean header and the game-winner.

New York arrives with incredible talent, such as Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez. While the Union (7-14-7) won’t make the playoffs in their first season, they can sure leave an impression by getting their eighth win.

“Of course you’re going to be excited and pumped up for a match like this one,” said defender Danny Califf. “I’m sure the fans will be amped up. I’m looking forward to it.”
