New Celtics star Gordon Hayward broke his leg in gruesome fashion Tuesday night in Cleveland in his first game as a member of the C’s.
TNT play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan shouted, “Hayward broke his leg!” as a stunned arena in Cleveland looked on. The injury resembled that of former Washington Redskin star Joe Theismann, UFC star Anderson Silva and former pro wrestler Sid Vicious.
UPDATE: The injury was actually a fracture of Hayward’s ankle. He is expected to be able to return to the Celtics by April.
