The Vikings will host the Giants in Detroit tonight after a huge snow storm caused the Minneapolis Metrodome’s inflated roof to collapse yesterday morning, forcing the relocation. The game originally scheduled for yesterday had already been postponed after the Giants were stranded in Kansas City when their charter flight was unable to land in Minneapolis because of the storm. The league was later forced to move the contest when the blizzard ripped open the Metrodome’s roof, covering the field in snow.
“I think they’ve handled it very well,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said of his team. “I think that the guys realized right away that it was out of our hands and really fully out of our control.”
The team also realized they needed a way to pass the time. They plan to do an abbreviated walk-through this morning, but yesterday morning Eli Manning had the rookies entertain the team with a singing contest.
“I made the rookies do a little singing, and kind of lighten the mood a little bit,” Manning said. “You have to take advantage of this opportunity to do a little team bonding.”
While players have gotten extra rest for this game, there’s concern the unexpected short week will affect the Giants for their following game against Philly.
“As soon as it ends up being a Monday night game, you click with your staff into a Monday night preparation in terms of using your time,” Coughlin said.

Eli Manning vs. Vikings’ secondary
The Giants’ QB is certainly shorthanded, but Steve Smith practiced last week and Hakeem Nicks said he could be ready to go as well. If the duo returns it’ll give a huge boost to a sagging unit and actually make the passing game a viable threat again.

AP will be a great test for a Giants team that is more deft at rushing the passer than stopping the run. He has been battling a gimpy ankle, but an 85 percent Peterson is still good enough to swing momentum with big runs, eat the clock and mask the deficiencies of whoever is under center.
