Mike Vrabel announced his retirement from pro football today to coach linebackers at Ohio State.

He played eight seasons for the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls -- and making a massive mark on the franchise.

Vrabel is clearly one of the top defenders in Pats history. He's fourth in team history in sacks (48), and first among players who spent their entire New England stint in the 2000s. He forced 13 fumbles (fourth in team history) and intercepted 11 passes (25th).

What really sets Vrabel apart, though, is his ability to line up at tight end. He caught a total of 11 touchdown passes for the Pats, including two in Super Bowls.
