Which Bruin will step up in Game 7 against Capitals?

Tyler Seguin stepped up in Game 6 after a relatively quiet series. Who will be remembered as Game 7’s top player?

Tim Thomas

He’s been struggling in regard to his lofty standards as of late. But Tim Thomas was tremendous in elimination games last season.

He allowed 0 goals against Vancouver in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, another goose egg against Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference finals, and just one in the Game 4 clincher against Philly. In last year’s first round Game 7 against Montreal, he did allow three goals, however.

Hero odds: 3-1

David Krejci

David Krejci finally came through for the Bruins when they needed him most in Game 6 against the Capitals on Sunday as he had a first-period goal on the power play and assisted Tyler Seguin’s game-winner in overtime.

In the three Game 7s during last year’s postseason, Krejci did not have a goal, but he does have the ability to come up big in the clutch.

Krejci had a hat trick in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals last year against Tampa Bay.

Hero odds: 10-1

Honorable mention: It may be too much to ask for Tyler Seguin to come up big again in the clutch.

Bruins defense

Andrew Ference was another big surprise in Game 6 for the Bruins as he contributed to the offense in a big way.

The veteran defenseman has always been able to get the job done around the net as he once had 31 points in a season (2005-06).

Zdeno Chara will once again be a threat, as long as he and his nose can avoid the wielding blade of Alexander Ovechkin’s stick, unlike in Game 6.

Hero odds: 12-1

Honorable mention: Rich Peverley has a team-high five playoff points.

Patrice Bergeron

Patrice Bergeron does not have a goal in this series, so he’s certainly due. The B’s center had 22 goals this year.

He does have a legitimate excuse, however, due to the fact that he was pummeled on two occasions in Game 5. It was bad enough that he did not take faceoffs in Game 6.

Hero odds: 16-1

Brad Marchand

Brad Marchand has been taking some heat locally for his non-Bruins-like flopping ways as of late.

But he could quickly get back in the good graces of cynical fans if he comes up big tomorrow night.

Hero odds: 8-1
