The girl everyone loved to hate transformed into the girl everyone liked to not really care about.
Yes, Kristen Cavallari was kind of a bitch on “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills,” but on “Dancing with the Stars” she was kind of totally fine! Certainly not someone we would actually be friends with, but someone who was in a class with you who you could maybe chat politely with while you waited for the teacher to come in. (She would probably have a lot of cutting remarks about the teacher’s appearance that we would feel guilty for laughing at.)
Part of the reason Cavallari was voted off last night (Is that a spoiler? It’s right there in the headline), we think, is that she’s just too stiff. Kristin can never not be “Kristin,” the smart-ass high school queen, and high school queen bees, as a rule, don’t generally lose themselves on the dance floor.
We do enjoy, though, her chemistry with partner Mark Ballas. She’s all whiny, and he’s pushing her to be her best self and … wait a second, that’s every celebrity-dancer relationship in “Dancing with the Stars”! No wonder so many of them pair off — they’re already living in a romantic comedy!
