Will the NFL ever stay under?

It’s difficult to explain all the scoring going on in the NFL this season. Theoretically, the lockout should have harmed offenses more than defenses. They didn’t have time to work on timing, advanced plays or gain continuity. All defensive guys have to do is go out there and hit someone.

Apparently, that’s harder than it sounds. Through five weeks, the over has hit in 48 games and the under has hit 26 times. So if you bet $100 on the over in every NFL game this season, you would be up $1,940 on the 63.16 percent rate. Not bad.

The question now, as we head into Week 6, is if the oddsmakers have adjusted?Yes is the safe answer. When the dust settles each season, the over/under ends up around 50/50. This 63.16 rate just isn’t going to last.

This week, there are four NFL games with a total of 50 points or more: ATL/CAR, NO/TB, DAL/NE and BUF/NYG. Under the total figures to be a profitable play as we move along.
