Disappointed Simon Cowell wasn’t around to berate your singing abilities during this season’s “American Idol” auditions? Don’t worry — he was simply working out his insult muscle for the premiere of the U.S. version of his hit talent competition, “The X Factor.”
Open-call auditions for Season 1 take place tomorrow at the Prudential Center in Newark. Wristbands, which are required for audition, will be distributed to hopefuls at the arena for 24 hours, from approximately 6 a.m. this morning to 6 a.m. tomorrow. Though Cowell and his fellow judges won’t be in attendance this round, anyone 12 years or older — both solo artists and vocal groups — without a current music recording contract are invited to try to sing their way to the grand prize: a $5 million record deal.
