With the wild card slipping away, the Yankees are probably done for the season. They can join starter CC Sabathia, who is now officially done for 2013.
The team announced Monday morning Sabathia suffered a Grade 2 left hamstring strain in his last start and will not pitch for the remainder of the season. Even if the Yankees do make the playoffs, he will not be available as the recovery time is about eight weeks.

He was scheduled to make just one more start this season.
The injury brings to an end a disappointing season -- probably the worst of his career. He is 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA and 175 strikeouts in 211 innings.
Ironically, the start in which he was injured was one of the best of his season. He went seven innings and allowed just one run against the Giants on Sept. 20.
His 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and .272 batting average against are all the worst of his 13-year career.
The Yankees are four games behind the Indians for the second wild-card spot with just six games left.
