A member of the U.S. Coast Guard has shot and killed a woman and shot a police officer and another woman in Bourne, according to authorities.

The shooting reportedly happened around 2:15 a.m. in a condominium complex on Round House Road. State Police say the male suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, has been taken into custody by Bourne Police.

The State Police Bomb Squad was on scene to deal with hoax bomb devices allegedly placed near the crime scene by the suspect.

The Cape Cod Times reports that the suspect set a car ablaze to prevent responders from reaching the condo. That paper reports an explosion went off at the scene and multiple weapons were found.

WCVB reports that the male suspect, whose name has not been released, is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, as are the two female victims. That station says the police officer was shot in the back, below his bullet proof vest. He is being treated at a Rhode Island hospital.
