Stop smoking with Driven to Quit Challenge

To mark National Non-Smoking Week, the Canadian Cancer Society Ottawa Unit is raising awareness of the Driven to Quit Challenge this week.

This is the fifth year that the campaign has been hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society.

“January and September are the biggest months for people to quit,” said Barbara Hollander, regional co-ordinator of the smokers’ helpline.

So far, about 300 Ottawans have signed up for the challenge, which encourages Ontarians to make a quit attempt with the support services available to them.

This year, entrants who quit for the month of March have chances to win prizes, including a 2010 Ford Escape hybrid and a $5,000 CAA vacation getaway.

Those who have quit smoking since the new year, or plan to quit by March, can register until Feb. 28 at www.DrivenToQuit.ca or at the Canadian Cancer Society Ottawa Unit office.
