Students feel Magic of Christmas

The Magic of Christmas cast its wintry spell after 116 students at Mountain View academy donated almost 200 gifts to the charity for those less fortunate.

Student Shae Pollock, 16, said while the school chooses to help charitable organizations yearly, they were very happy to help the Magic of Christmas charity this year to help put presents under Calgarians trees.

“We’re really enjoying the Christmas spirit and everyone was really excited to help out with gifts. I think it really shows the spirit of our school,” she said.

As uniformed students filed into a bus with presents, Santa and elves gave hugs and Ho, Ho, Ho’s while loading the bus, one of 10 donated by Calgary Transit, spokesperson Ron Collins said.

“We think this is wonderful and just wanted to help out by giving back to the community and you can fit a lot of food and gifts into these buses,” Collins said, adding the buses would drop gifts off for about 3,000 people when the job is done.

The gifts will be delivered to nursing homes, hospitals and shelters on Christmas Eve.
