A southbound F train in Queens dragged a subway rider to his death Monday night when he became trapped in the train’s doors.

A man, in his 60s, was caught in the doors of the train as it was departing Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens station around 6:45 p.m., the New York Daily News reported. The man may have been intoxicated as he was trying to board the train.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he died, the Daily News added.

This death comes after recent news that the MTA may try a new program of utilizing platform safety doors, DNAinfo reported.

“The goal of platform screen doors is to improve customer and crew safety as well as reduce trash and debris accumulation on the trackway,” the project’s description was quoted by DNAinfo.
