Sultry (maybe) details of Alycia Lane-Larry Mendte affair

The never-ending saga of Alycia Lane and Larry Mendte is heating up again, thanks to a lawsuit that pits the former Philadelphia TV news anchors as Lane sues both CBS and Mendte. Details from recent depositions published in the New York Post offer a hint into the duo’s relationship, from two very different points of view.

When the two were riding high as the faces of KWY’s broadcast, scandal set in after Lane gained national attention for e-mailing pictures of herself in a bikini to NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, a married man. A drunken run-in with a New York City cop, in which she reportedly slapped a female cop in the face and yelled, “I am a reporter, you f— dyke bitch,” was the final straw and Lane was fired.

But it only got juicier once it was revealed that Mendte, married to another Philadelphia news anchor Dawn Stensland, had been snooping on Lane, eventually pleading guilty to federal charges of logging into her e-mail and sending juicy bits of gossip to reporters. That was the end of Medte’s Philadelphia anchoring. He now contributes to New York’s WPIX TV.

Now, the two sides are coming into view, thanks to a deposition acquired by the New York Post. In it are details from Mendte that spells out a flirtatious, physical relationship that included kissing and groping.

Lane went into her room and came out with her top off but bra still on, and the pair began making out, Mendte testified, the Post reported. Another time, in the car, Mendte said, “Alycia unhooked her seat belt
and — actually, while I was driving, straddled me and started kissing
me, and we — I pulled off to the side of the road and that continued
for a while. There was some fondling.”

Lane paints a different picture, saying she believes Mendte “is a sociopathic narcissist,” according to the Post. Asked if “Mr. Mendte made unwanted advances to you and . . . you spurned those advances,” Lane replied, “Yes.” Lane said she once lectured him when he leaned in to kiss her after
dropping off a Christmas tree at her house in 2003, saying, “A kiss is
cheating, Larry. You’re a married man.”
