Last week we updated you with news about local productions readying for spring shoots or premieres. Consider this week Part II of that update, with a few existing and forthcoming projects making news.
Moss
While the B.C.-shot zombie comedy Fido has garnered lots of attention in the Canadian media both preceding and following its theatrical debut last Friday, its stars, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dylan Baker and Billy Connolly, aren’t the only actors unearthing trouble in the province.
Ackles
In All Hell Breaks Loose, the most recently completed episode of Supernatural’s second season (which wraps April 7), series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are forced to dig up some information … literally.
The two actors have been glimpsed all around town (most recently, Padalecki at the River Rock Casino with his girlfriend), with filming locales ranging from Pitt Meadows, to Chinatown, to Deer Lake Park.
Stargate SG-1 — the longest consecutively running Sci-Fi series in U.S. television history — is teaming up with the U.S. Navy to shoot a series of scenes for the studio’s upcoming Stargate SG-1 direct-to-video movie, Stargate: Continuum. Cast members Ben Browder and Amanda Tapping will travel to the Arctic to film at the Navy’s Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station (APLIS) March 23 through 29.
Among the scenes will be footage of the submarine bursting through the ice, with temperatures hovering around — 50 C.
Speaking of Amanda Tapping, the Stargate veteran has helped break new ground with her participation in Sanctuary, the first broadcast-quality, high-definition dramatic series designed specifically for the Internet, produced by Vancouver’s Stage 3 Media. Set to feature unprecedented interactivity — including flash gaming and social networking — the series concerns Dr. Helen Magnus (Tapping), who seeks out monstrous creatures with her protégé Will Zimmerman (played by Robin Dunne) and her daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup). Tapping also serves as one of the executive producers. Television writer and producer Damian Kindler, whose credits include Stargate SG-1 and PSI Factor: Chronicles Of The Paranormal, created the series, which will debut this spring.
