The NYPD is looking for a man they say punched a woman at a Brooklyn subway station earlier this month while he struggled to rob her.

On March 4 at about 8:10 a.m. the suspect approached the 22-year-old victim from behind on the southbound platform inside the Livonia Avenue L train subway station, according to police.

The man then threatened the victim’s life if she did not give him her cellphone, cops said. A struggle between the two then began in which the man punched the young woman in her head while taking her Samsung phone, and then fled in an unknown direction. The victim did not go to the hospital.

Police describe the suspect — who can be seen in surveillance photos from the subway station — as a black man, about 30 years old and last seen wearing a New York Giants jacket.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
