Police have arrested a man in Elizabeth, New Jersey, who was accused of attacking two young girls on their way to school last month.

Police said Jair Ramirez approached a 15-year-old girl at knifepoint on Sept. 15, telling her he was going to kill her. He ran off without harming the girl, police told ABC7.

Police also said that Ramirez was a “person of interest” in an attack reported Friday, in which a man exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl and tried to drag her into an alley.

The suspect ultimately ran away when a neighbor saw what was going on, NJ.com reported.

The arrest comes the same week after at least six girls in the same county reported being grabbed or lured by a stranger near their school, New Jersey 101.5 reported, though there’s so far no indication Ramirez was involved.

The extent of Ramirez’s charges were not available Saturday night.
