Suspects sought in failed abduction of woman

Police are searching for two men after an abduction attempt outside a Dartmouth bar early yesterday, officials said.

Halifax Regional Police say the men were in a red, four-door sedan and approached a 25-year-old woman just after 1 a.m. in a parking lot on Tacoma Drive.

The men asked the woman to get in the vehicle, and after she refused, police say they tried to force her in.

The woman was able to fight off the men, police say, and she ran away and contacted the authorities. By the time officers arrived, the men had fled the scene.

Police were being fairly tight-lipped yesterday concerning many of the details about the incident.

Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders did confirm the woman was a patron of Dave Doolittle’s Taproom and Grill, a sports bar located at 90 Tacoma Dr.

The woman was also leaving the bar when the incident occurred, according to Saunders.

Police planned to speak with the victim late yesterday to try to get more details.

A staff member at Doolittle’s said he hadn’t heard about the incident until contacted by Metro yesterday. He had no comment.

Police describe one suspect as a man aged between 25 and 35, with a medium build and long shaggy dark hair. He was wearing a ball cap and a blue shirt.

The second suspect was wearing a khaki-coloured hat and a dark sweater.
