Sweet Indian buffet bounty in the city’s northeast

Long-time favourite Bombay Sweet House has a new coat of paint and its quality lunch buffet ($11.99) is going as strong as ever.

While the selection is not huge, it’s all fresh and delicious. Butter chicken stands out with moist meat and a creamy sauce. A goat curry is so tender it falls off the bone. Vegetarians are well served with mutter paneer (peas with Bombay cheese), daal (lentils), and crispy hot potato-stuffed samosas.

If you’re not in a buffet mood, any of the thali ($9.99) combos will fill you up. Fresh naan is also brought to your table.

Before you roll out of there, pick up some of the Sweet House’s signature desserts to bounce you out of buffet sleepiness: The city’s best gulab jamun — syrup-soaked doughnuts that are light on the rose water — and jalebi, bright-orange, deep-fried sugar shaped like a pretzel.
