T gets ten Hyrbrid Trucks

The MBTA is trying to go from “Beantown to Greentown,” according to city and state officials, after teaming up with Chrysler to test out new Hybrid Electric trucks for T workers.

The Chrysler group and the T have agreed to a three-year trial of 10 plug-in trucks to be used by MBTA supervisors.

Officials unveiled the mammoth vehicles today.

Part of an American Recovery Reinvestment Act, the MBTA will test the trucks system-wide in maintenance fleets and report regularly on the experience.

MBTA interim General Manager Jon Davis said the trucks are equipped with charging stations so workers can use their tools for the job straight from the trucks.
