In case anyone cares what rapper T.I. thinks of Muammar Gaddhafi or Osama Bin Laden, the outspoken hip hop star unleashes his opinions on the two departed terrorists during an interview for the December issue of Vibe magazine. His conspiracy theories aren’t what people are talking about today, though. Instead, it’s his comments on over-sensitive gay people who don’t find Tracy Morgan hilarious.
T.I., who was released from prison in August, referenced one of Morgan’s schticks that landed him in hot water with the gay community. The “30 Rock” comedian said during one a stand-up routine in June that gay people are too sensitive and if “you can take a d–k, you can take a joke.”
“That s–t was funny to me,” T.I. said of Morgan’s joke. “And it’s kind of true.”
Oh, but that’s not all. T.I. went on to accuse people who were offended by Morgan’s brand of anti-gay humor to be down-right unpatriotic.
“They’re like, ‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.’ … That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace,” said T.I.
It will be interesting to see whether the negative attention over his remarks drives T.I. to apologize. (Morgan himself issued a sweeping apology after he came under fire for the jokes.) But if he does, will this be the first case of a celebrity apologizing for saying another celebrity shouldn’t have apologized?
