Taco Bell set to unleash Cool Ranch Dorito taco shells this summer

Phase two of Taco Bell’s Dorito Taco super mutant junk food domination has begun. Now that Doritos Locos Tacos are being marketed nationally after months of testing, there are rumblings, very loud rumblings (not unlike the ones in our savory powder flavor-deprived stomachs) that a Cool Ranch Taco will be hitting select Taco Bell locations this summer.

On Wednesday, blogger Tyler Oakley (@tyleroakley) baited Taco Bell in a tweet to the company about suspicions that the second most beloved Dorito flavor would become the flavorful holster of goodness in which they will stuff their no longer “pink slime” filling and other fixings. The company responded with “We’re coming out with a cool, new taco this summer #hinthint.”

We all know that the real truths of Twitter are revealed in the hashtags, so it’s safe to say that yes, this is happening – hopefully, without months of testing the flavor in random outposts throughout the country. And in addition, we also have evidence in the photo above, courtesy of So Good Blog’s Twitter feed, which were supposedly taken in the Taco Bell test kitchen.

The question is, where to go after that? Can the Sweet and Spicy Dorito ever work harmoniously with the Taco Bell flavor profile? If Orange Fingers was in the Taco Bell test kitchen, the suggestion would be to bring back the Fiery Habaneros of yesteryear, so that their tongue-searing hotness could be mitigated by the sometimes lackluster add-ons of sour cream and genetically modified veggies. But that’s just us.
