Take a swing at the Donald Trump piñata

Donald Trump has been officially running for president for about two weeks and has already managed to piss off an entire country. Mexico.

During his candidacy announcement trump touched on a lot of subjects. His statements on Mexico, however, were a little — how do we say this? Horrible.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

Jeez, Donald.

Naturally Trumps words have inspired outrage in both the U.S. and Mexico. As a response, piñata effigies of the candiate have been growing in popularity in Mexico.

We caught up with the creator of the Donald Trump piñatas, Dalton Ramirez, who explained what inspired him to turn Donald Trump into a piñata, why they’re so popular and who his next target is.

Why did you make apiñataof Donald Trump?

It occurred to us to do the piñata of Donald Trump as a form of protest. To respond, in our own way, to his comments on our Mexican countrymen. Since our place is in a border town where we see then [immigration] battle and how the problem can cause discrimination. So we retaliated in the form of a piñata.
How do you make thepiñatas? What materials do you use?
The piñatas are made of newspaper and cardboard [stuck together] with paste and glue. For the bigger piñatas we use wire to form the body
How many have you sold? Why are they so popular?
We’ve made about 20 Donald Trump piñatas. A lot of people are asking to make more of them. I think the Donald Trump piñatas are popular because many people are upset with him.
Do you have plans to sell them to customers on the internet?
We are researching shipping the piñatas because so many people in the United States want the piñata. We also hope to send them to other places like England.
What other politicians are you thinking of turning intopiñatas?
These days we hope to make a piñata that we had planned before Donald Trump, which is addressed to our immigrant friends in the United States. The piñata will be released early July.

Any hints who that might be?
Yes, he’s an admired politician and I think he could help immigrants in the United States … he is the opposite of Donald Trump!
NBC said that it will no longer work with Donald Trump because of his statements regarding Immigration. What do you think about this?
I think the television network is in total disagreement with Donald Trump, which is good. Racists can do much damage to a large country like America. His public statements can encourage racism and discrimination.
