A taxi driver became the latest victim in the city’s ongoing slashing spree when a fare sliced the driver from his ear to chin.

Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, near the corner of West 159thStreet and Amsterdam Avenue in Harlem, a knife-wielding passenger cut a taxi driver, leaving a gash down the side of his face, the New York Daily News has reported.

Leolyn Rowe, 47, of Brooklyn, was picked up by police after running from the taxi, and he is now expected to be arraigned on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon, the Daily News added.

This most recent slashing comes as the city deals with a rash of similar face-cutting assaults, including an incident this past Friday when a Bronx woman’s face was sliced during a robbery, NBC reported. That suspect remains at large.
