Teen faces several charges after three people assaulted

An 18-year-old male faces several charges after police say three people were assaulted at a home on Old Halifax Road in Glen Haven Monday night.

RCMP say at 7:15 p.m. a male suspect – who doesn’t live at the residence and isn’t related to the three people roughed up – was inside the house and asked to leave. Police say he didn’t and then became upset and assaulted two females – aged 37 and 19 – and a 36-year-old man inside the house.

“He ended up assaulting the 37-year-old female by punching her in the face. She fell down and also struck her head,” said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin. “He also assaulted the other two individuals in the residence.”

The older woman received facial and head injuries and was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the 18-year-old suspect fled the scene on foot after the assault but was located at another residence a short distance away.

“He was arrested there,” Taplin said. “He kind of a resisted a bit until he was handcuffed.”

Dylan Lee Phiessen, 18, was arraigned yesterday in Halifax provincial court. He is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm, two counts of assault, two counts of mischief and other related charges. He was remanded until a show-cause hearing today.
