While at the scene, police were approached by an 18-year-old man who told authorities that he been shot in the leg, WCVB added. The victim was treated and later released from an area hospital.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random, WHDH reported. Though police have not made any arrests, they have identified a person of interest in connection to the incident.

“Not a random act of violence. Very safe community here. We do believe the subjects [knew] each other. And we’re not concerned for the general safety of the public,” Rowley Police Chief Scott A. Dumas was quoted by WHDH.
