Police have charged a teen after a man waiting for a bus on Rideau Street was allegedly robbed and punched in the head.
At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, a man was waiting for a bus in front of 50 Rideau St. when a suspect demanded his wallet, cellphone and MP3 player, police said. The suspect then reportedly punched the man in the head before fleeing with an MP3 player prior to police arrival.
Police arrested a teen on an OC Transpo bus shortly afterward. At the time of his arrest, the individual provided officers with a false name.
A 16-year-old male faces charges of robbery, uttering threats, obstruct police and two counts of breach of recognizance. The individual was previously charged for a similar incident at the Billings Bridge Transitway on May 25.
He appeared in court Wednesday.
