A teen from Braintree is facing charges after hopping the third rail at Andrew Square T stop following the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Southie Sunday.

Transit police say Patrik Finnerty, 19, jumped down from the northbound platform, climbed over the dividing wall and onto the southbound platform at the T stop around 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

His actions, according to MBTA police, prompted train travel to be suspended in both directions while electricity to the tracks was shut off.

Police found Finnerty seated on a bench at the stop waiting for his — you guessed it — train. He told the cops he was just trying to get to the other platform.

He was arrested on a charge of trespassing. He was to be arraigned on Monday, but did not show up, according to police. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. Braintree Police arrested him Monday night and he was arraigned on Tuesday. The case was continued without a finding for three months. The judge ordered Finnerty to perform 25 hours of community service and to stay out of Southie during the timeframe.
