A 19-year-old man is British Columbia’s 17th drowning victim this year, after getting separated from his group of friends at a Maple Ridge-area lake.
The teenager and three friends were swimming at the Day Use Beach Area of Alouette Lake when he went missing.
After searching for the man for almost one hour, his friends called police, RCMP said.
Members of Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue joined RCMP officers in the search.
They found a body in the water about one hour later and friends identified it as the missing Delta teenager.
The man’s name has not been released and RCMP say the B.C. Coroner’s Service is investigating the death.
