Teenager stabbed twice in back

A 17-year-old male was stabbed twice in the back late yesterday afternoon in north-end Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police say they were called to the 2400 block of Victory Lane around 5:30 p.m. and found the victim suffering from two stab wounds.

Police say the victim told them he was at the basketball courts on Creighton Street when he was attacked from behind.

He then turned and police say he saw a man dressed in black, who fled the area on foot. No other description of the suspect was given.

Police say the victim ran to Victory Lane to get help. From there, he was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre where he was being treated last night. The injuries weren’t considered to be life-threatening.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
