Teens stabbed

Ekbert Faas saw his first stabbing victim yesterday.

While walking around noon along Crawford Street, just north of College Street, he noticed what he described as “very sinister guy” swearing and walking away from a man on the ground covered in blood.

“He was trying to move his legs and saying, ‘I can’t breathe,’ ” said Faas, who lives in the area. “It was dreadful … I’ve never seen anyone stabbed.”

Blood spattered the snow-covered lawn of 417 Crawford St. and a black hooded sweatshirt along with a black winter jacket and hat lay on the sidewalk nearby. Yellow police tape blocked off about 70 metres of the street.

A second stabbing victim kept a 1 p.m. job interview at King West Vets veterinary clinic before proceeding to hospital. Both victims are 16. Both suffered non-life- threatening wounds.

Police immediately locked down several neighbourhood schools, including Monsignor Fraser College and Central Commerce Collegiate, the high school the victims attend.

The lockdown was lifted around 2:45 p.m. after police searched the school, but found no suspects.

Police are looking for two or three suspects seen running north on Crawford Street toward Central Commerce, police spokesperson Wendy Drummond said.
