Expect the Celtics’ win total projection for the 2016-17 season to jump to at least 50.0 thanks to their free agent signing of Al Horford this past weekend.

The Celtics have gone over their Vegas over/under projection the past two seasons and book-makers are well aware of those types of trends. In 2014-15, the C’s Vegas projected win total was 26.5. Brad Stevens’ boys wound up winning 40 games that season. This past season, Boston had a projected win total of 42.5. The C’s wound up going 48-34.

Horford is expected to be the perfect fit for what ails the Celtics. He protects the rim on defense and stretches the floor on offense. He was arguably the best player on an Atlanta team that led the Eastern Conference in wins in 2014-15 (the Hawks went 60-22 that year but fell to Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals).

Horford agreed to a four-year, $113 million deal with the Celtics on Saturday.
