The 10 cutest moments from National Zoo’s #ByeByeBaoBao campaign

After captivating the internet the world over for the past four years, it’s time for America to say #ByeByeBaoBao.

The female panda, who was born on Aug. 23, 2013 at Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., is set to leave the States for China on Tuesday.

Her departure is part of a breeding program with the China Wildlife Conservation Association that National Zoo participates in, which has any panda born at the National Zoo moving to China by age 4.

As part of a big farewell celebration, the zoo began the #ByeByeBaoBao campaign that will culminate with Facebook Lives of her departure from the zoo and Dulles International Airport on Tuesday.

Because this writer, like many of you, has been enthralled with Bao Bao since she made her first public appearance in January 2014, here are the 10 most adorable #ByeByeBaoBao moments so far.

Bao Bao has learned to open her mouth for keepers to look at her teeth, to present her paws for body checks, to lie down for an ultrasound, to hold still for a blood draw and to allow keepers to touch different parts of her body. This face means #BaoBao is trying to get our attention. Usually when she wants to get our attention she’ll come to the back of the mesh, or climb a tree so she can see what we are doing from a distance. Now that second breakfast is over, she’s ready to head back inside where there’s more food. We’ve finished cleaning her indoor enclosure and put more bamboo, biscuits, sweet potato and apple in there for her. #PandaStory #ByeByeBaoBao
