If you want a good old-fashioned greasy, messy burger, Hintonburger is the smokin’ burger shack du jour. Since the end of June when it opened its doors, this diner has had a growing buzz of fans.
From the small menu, I ordered The Hintonburger, which came with bacon and cheddar cheese along with the usual burger suspects: ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and tomato. The burger, made from local beef sourced from O’Brien Farms in Winchester, was cooked medium-well and dripped with juice after each bite. I’m weak when poutine is on the menu. Luckily, this poutine was worth the fat.
Next time, I want to try its hand-breaded corn dogs and onion rings. As well, for the wintry season, Hintonburger added soups and chili to its menu.
If you want to impress your date or your boss, don’t go to Hintonburger because you may have ketchup and bacon fat dripping from your chin. But you won’t care because you’ll be “delirious,” as one customer proclaimed on his way out. I was too.
