Today, Metro publishes the U.S. winners in our global photo challenge competition.
The event attracted thousands of entries from photographers across the United States, and, based on reader input, above are the winning entries.
The four winners now go forward to a global final in their category. The ultimate winners — each of whom will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Greenland Photo Exhibition in April 2013 — will be announced Nov. 30.
One entrant, Sean Shapiro of Pennsylvania, ended up winning two categories. The other winners were Sonia Chin of Brooklyn and Carolina Bueno.
The competition was run in association with sponsors J&R of Park Row, New York.
